Awaken Your Sexuality: Connection & Intimacy After Addiction & Trauma
#MentalHealthMonday Recovery Education Session

WITH STEPHANIE S. COVINGTON, PHD, LCSW & VANESSA CARLISLE, PHD

In this session of our recovery education series, we are exploring an essential aspect of the healing and recovery journey that is often overlooked or avoided—sexuality.

For many of us, addiction and trauma disconnected us from our bodies—from our sense of safety, worth, and pleasure. In addition, many of us have never had the chance to explore our sexuality in a safe and affirming way.

The authors of Awaken Your Sexuality: A Guide to Connection and Intimacy after Addiction and Trauma, Drs. Stephanie Covington and Vanessa Carlisle, will discuss some of the common issues in sexual recovery and offer practical, gentle steps towards reclaiming sexual agency and joy.

In the foreword to Awaken Your Sexuality, author Elizabeth Gilbert says, “We need this book yesterday…a treasured resource.” We are excited to learn more on Monday, September 29!

During this #MentalHealthMonday, Drs. Covington and Carlisle show us how to:

  • Create a personal definition of sexuality and sexual well-being
  • Identify the impact of addiction and trauma on sexuality in your life and relationships
  • Practice a self-reflective exercise from the Awaken Your Sexuality book and workbook to more deeply connect with your own sexuality

Join us LIVE for a Q & A session following the presentation.
