EveryBODY has a story to tell, wisdom to share, and healing to experience.

Coming Home to Ourselves Through Embodied Movement | A SHE RECOVERS® Through Self-Expression Online Workshop

Available on-demand

We believe that movement = medicine and that through somatic practices, we can more wholly explore the connection between body, mind, emotions & spirit. We are redefining recovery and the concept of healthy movement in community – going beyond traditional ideas of western exercise and incorporating a unique bodyful consciousness that promotes individual and collective healing. Conscious movement invites us to listen to our bodies – encouraging us to create space for processing emotions, moving energy and healing trauma, and make room for willingness, curiosity, acceptance, joy, and freedom – thereby contributing to overall physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Your body holds innate wisdom and transformational healing potential that the practice of embodied movement can awaken.

In this two hour workshop, Movement Therapist and SHE RECOVERS trusted advisor for embodied movement, Erica Hornthal, and SHE RECOVERS creator of SHE RECOVERS Dance, Payton Kennedy, will guide you to:

  • Redefine movement to support a recovery mindset
  • Understand why movement matters for mental health
  • Explore movement as a tool for healing and body liberation
  • Explore your senses and move through emotions
  • Reclaim personal agency in your own body
  • Develop your own personal “embodiment flow” movement practice

SHE RECOVERS® Through Self-Expression Workshop Series

This ‘Coming Home to Ourselves Through Embodied Movement’ session is part of the SHE RECOVERS Through Self-Expression Workshop series. Guided by leaders in women’s wellness & behavioral health, these workshops highlight holistic, creative, and embodied approaches to self-expression that have the potential to redefine recovery, improve recovery capital, inspire hope, end stigma, and empower women to heal themselves and help other women to do the same.

About SHE RECOVERS Foundation

SHE RECOVERS® Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity and a global grassroots movement serving more than 325,000 women and non-binary individuals in or seeking recovery from life challenges including mental health issues, trauma, and substance use. Its mission is to redefine recovery, inspire hope, end stigma, and empower women to increase their recovery capital, heal themselves, and help other women to do the same.

In 2022, SHE RECOVERS was able to reach over 3 million women in or seeking recovery. Sadly, an estimated 34 million women are still suffering from mental health/substance use disorders.

“Recovery is a journey to wholeness.  We learn to take care of our body, mind, emotions & spirit.” – SHE RECOVERS Intentions & Guiding Principle

A Sliding Scale for Social Justice

We see our recovery as a gift. Social justice, personal agency, inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of all our offerings. Please choose a ticket payment option that feels right for you.

Supporter | $89

The supporter payment option reflects the true cost of this workshop. If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services. If you are able to pay for “wants” and spend little time worrying about securing necessities in your life, you have economic privilege and power in our community – this price is for you.

Sustainer | $59

The sustainer payment option acknowledges that paying the full cost would prevent some folks from being able to attend, but who do not honestly find themselves reflected in either descriptions for the supporter or community options. If you are struggling to conquer debt or move away from living paycheck to paycheck but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc. – this price is for you.

Community | $39

The Community payment option acknowledges that there are folks whose economic circumstances would prevent them from being a part of this workshop if there was not a deliberate opportunity made for them to access services at a cost that is reflective of their economic realities. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living pay-check to pay-check or are in significant debt – this cost is for you.

You belong here and you deserve a community that honors your contribution as equally impactful to that of a supporter.
