Learn how peer support strengthens recovery, builds community, and expands access to healing.
Peer support has long been recognized as a powerful and transformative element within recovery-oriented systems of care. Rooted in lived experience, mutual understanding, and hope, peer support offers pathways to connection, belonging, and healing that complement clinical and community-based approaches to recovery.
In this #MentalHealthMonday session, Honesty Liller—certified peer recovery specialist, CEO of the McShin Foundation, and SHE RECOVERS Certified Professional—will explore the vital role peer support plays in building and sustaining recovery.
Drawing from her personal recovery journey and her leadership within one of the nation’s leading peer-led recovery community organizations, Honesty will share insights into how peer leadership strengthens recovery ecosystems and expands possibilities for connection, growth, and community care.
During this session, participants will be invited to:
- Learn what peer support is and why it is considered a foundational component of recovery-oriented systems of care
- Identify key leadership principles used in peer recovery environments
- Recognize how lived experience strengthens leadership and connection
- Learn practical strategies for building community and supporting recovery through peer leadership
- Explore how a leading recovery community organization implements peer-led leadership models
- Consider pathways for becoming a peer support specialist or engaging more deeply in peer-led recovery spaces
Join us LIVE for a Q & A session following the presentation.
