The retreats to soothe your mind, body, and soul.

The SHE RECOVERS Redefining Recovery Retreats are our signature recovery retreat experience.

This immersive and invitational experience is carefully curated to ignite personal empowerment in an awe-inspiring location. These retreats are designed to help you reconnect with yourself, deepen your sense of purpose, and reclaim rest as a revolutionary act of self-love. They are a sanctuary for women and non-binary folks in or seeking recovery — a place to step away from your everyday life, immerse yourself in holistic recovery practices, form deep connections with like-hearted individuals, and receive unwavering support from facilitators with decades of lived and professional recovery experience.

Imagine…

• An individualized journey crafted by experienced professionals with decades of expertise in guiding women’s wellness retreats that embrace a holistic healing philosophy and welcome diverse pathways and patchworks of recovery.

• A retreat philosophy of wellness and growth rooted in women’s wisdom inspired by a mother and daughter’s journey of intergenerational healing.

• A carefully curated, personalized, and immersive experience that encourages you to redefine recovery by participating in any way that feels most comfortable for you.

• An opportunity for connection and rejuvenation alongside like-hearted women all committed to cultivating freedom, joy, renewal, and magic in their lives.

• An invitation to say yes to rest, say no to what no longer serves you, and rise rooted in your recovery.

In our decade+ of hosting SHE RECOVERS retreats we have come to learn that when women come together in spaces designed to support their healing and growth, magic happens.

“I had no idea what to expect the first time I attended a SHE RECOVERS retreat, but I knew I needed to be there. Not only did I discover things about myself, I learned the art of slow and intentional living. I learned how essential practicing radical self-love is in my recovery. I met women who just…understood me, women I felt I could connect with on a soul level. These retreats make me feel like I am…magic.”

What to Expect

Over five days and four nights (Wednesday through Sunday), this SHE RECOVERS Redefining Recovery Retreat – guided by trauma-informed practitioners with over a decade each of experience facilitating women’s recovery retreats – will take place in York Harbor, Maine.

We invite you to gather with us in a more intimate setting where the sea meets the pines, at the edge of the Atlantic, in historic and scenic York Harbor, Maine. Just steps from the rocky coastline and windswept beaches, Varrell House welcomes you with its cozy charm and gentle rhythm of seaside living.

Nestled in the fiery autumn foliage of New England, take your self-care to the next level by rising with the sun, walking the beaches, cold plunging in the ocean, or take part in a labyrinth ceremony. Revel in rest and renewal with like-hearted souls on a similar recovery journey. Make connections while sightseeing, hiking, or simply sipping tea on the porch or by the firepit. And, take part in daily guided activities, exercises, and embodied movement facilitated by our SHE RECOVERS Coaches.

Your recovery, your rhythm.

Nourish yourself with delicious food and good company, and share what’s on your heart in circle with other women who make you feel heard, seen, and supported.

You deserve to thrive in recovery.

SHE RECOVERS Redefining Recovery retreats are opportunities for deep rest, connection, and personal growth for every woman.

Once she removed the alcohol from her life, she was able to uncover the reasons why she was drinking. She was looking outside of herself when the answers were inside all along. As a coach, MaryBeth approaches recovery holistically as a Reiki master teacher, family constellation facilitator, yoga instructor, and acupressure therapist. She offers an integrative approach to healing that blends these modalities to support physical, emotional, and energetic well-being. It’s MaryBeth’s mission to empower and support recovering women on their unique journey toward balance, connection, and lasting transformation. She lives near the ocean in York Harbor, Maine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are these redefining recovery retreats for?

These retreats are designed for women and non-binary individuals who are in or seeking recovery. Because our definition of recovery includes mental health issues, trauma, and substance use, our recovery retreats are alcohol and drug-free.

What does the schedule look like?

Morning labyrinth ceremonies, mindful movement, sun-gazing, and (optional) cold dipping in the ocean will start each day on York Harbor Beach, just a short walk from Varrell House. After breakfast, facilitators lead guided activities, exercises, and special sessions; afternoons and evenings are free to enjoy outdoor walks by the sea, hiking, and sightseeing; tea & conversation on the porch or inside, in a cozy seating area. On-site massage therapy (additional cost) will be available to book. Evening sharing circles will complete the day around a backyard firepit or in one of the charming common areas.

Who leads these recovery retreats?

All of our retreats are facilitated by SHE RECOVERS team members and/or certified professionals. These professionals are folks who have completed one or more of our professional designation training programs (SRCD, SRYT, SRDF). To learn more about our SHE RECOVERS Certified Professional programs, please visit sherecovers.org and go to the Courses tab and click PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT in the dropdown.

What kind of accommodations can I expect?

Varrell house was originally built as a guesthouse in the early 20th century, then transitioned into a bed and breakfast, and is now an ideal retreat location. It features old-world charm with a newly renovated kitchen, sitting areas, and gathering spaces. The house has a large front porch and beautiful grounds featuring a gas fire pit shaded by trees. Some of the rooms and property offer partial views of the harbor. Varrell House includes all the modern amenities one could desire and more!

Are there shuttle or transportation services available?

Attendees are responsible for ground transportation to Varrell House. We will help to coordinate ride-sharing. Travel details will be sent out three months in advance for planning and booking flights. For those traveling by car, there is parking available at Varrell House.

Is there a refund policy?

Retreat deposits are strictly non-refundable. Your booking and payment of the retreat deposit indicate your acceptance of all policies.

If you are unable to attend the retreat you registered for and need to forfeit your spot, SRF is unable to offer a refund; however, depending upon the time of cancellation, a portion of your payment may be used as a one-time credit for another retreat to be taken within the same calendar year of your original retreat date.

In case of cancellation, the following penalty fees will apply:

October 21 – 25, 2026 RETREAT: If you cancel 31 days or more before your retreat start date, a portion of your payment may be applied to a future SRF Retreat within the same calendar year. E.g., you would forfeit 50% of your deposit ($250 of your $500 deposit if you cancel before July 21, 2026) OR 50% of your final retreat payment if you cancel after July 21, 2026.

If you cancel 30 days or less before your retreat start date, you will forfeit your entire retreat payment.

If you intend to cancel, you must provide written notice of your request via email to programs@sherecovers.org

Exceptions to our policy cannot be made for any reason. We do not offer credit for a guest arriving late or leaving early.

If the SHE RECOVERS Foundation cancels a retreat, a transfer of registration to a future retreat (with no penalty) or a full refund will be provided.

Can I bring my service animal?

We are not able to accommodate pets or service animals at this retreat.

Is the retreat accessible for those with physical limitations?

Varrell House is a three-storey house and therefore is not wheelchair accessible.

What should I pack?

A retreat guide with a detailed packing list will be sent to each attendee before the retreat.

Where do the proceeds from retreats go?

All of our recovery retreats help us fulfill our mission and provide accessible, free programming, resources, and support to women and non-binary folks in or seeking recovery. We are deeply grateful for your decision to love yourself radically by registering for a SHE RECOVERS retreat, knowing you are contributing to the recovery of others.

The full cost of this experience is out of my price range. What should I do?

Social justice, personal agency, inclusivity, and accessibility are at the heart of our organization.

Our payment plan option acknowledges that paying the full cost upfront would prevent some folks from being able to attend. If you are struggling to conquer debt or move away from living paycheck to paycheck but have access to a steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc., this payment plan is for you.

We acknowledge that there are folks whose economic circumstances prevent them from being a part of this retreat. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living paycheck to paycheck or are in significant debt, you don’t have to recover alone. We provide free offerings (sustained by the funds raised through SHE RECOVERS Retreats) such as a monthly recovery education series, local sharing circles, twice daily online gatherings, online embodied movement sessions, and identity-based support. Please click SUPPORT on our website to learn more.

Folks in our spaces have also found the following free recovery education sessions in pursuing financial recovery helpful, and as a result, many have gone on to attend our paid offerings.

I have benefited greatly from being a part of SHE RECOVERS, and I would like to give back in addition to my retreat purchase. What can I do?

We are deeply grateful for your desire to contribute to the recovery of others. You are welcome to donate to our foundation in addition to your retreat purchase.

Our recovery includes the recovery of the Earth and her peoples.

SHE RECOVERS acknowledges with respect the Pennacook, N’dakina (Abenaki / Abénaquis), Wabanaki (Dawnland Confederacy) Peoples on whose traditional territories Varrell House is located. We honor their historical, cultural, and spiritual connection to the land and waters – a relationship that continues to this day.
