ABOUT DR. JACKI HILLIOS

Dr. Jacki Hillios holds an MSW and PhD in Social Work from Boston College and worked as a clinician with at-risk youth and families for 20 years before becoming a researcher and co-founding The Phoenix.

As a clinician, Jacki knew The Phoenix’s community approach to recovery and healing would transform people’s lives and society forever. She has led the organization since
2007, overseeing expansion of The Phoenix to 185 communities in 45 states, with new communities being activated in Canada, the UK, and several other countries.

As Deputy Executive Director for The Phoenix, Dr. Hillios oversees research and evaluation, strategy, innovation, and growth. She is an active public speaker who enthusiastically shares what she has learned from developing and scaling The Phoenix’s Healing Community Model. In 2013 Jacki presented “Transcending Addiction and Redefining Recovery” at TEDxBoulder. Her talk has been watched by more than 761,000 people and is being shared in university classrooms across the country.

Today, Dr. Hillios is focused on expanding The Phoenix’s partnerships, specifically in music and innovation. These efforts will have a direct impact on how The Phoenix will change how society looks at and approaches addiction and recovery.

Managing the aftershock of crisis and social isolation shouldn’t be done alone.

The mission at Aware Recovery Care is to help people affected by addiction “Recover Where You Live.” At Aware Recovery Care, they transform the home into a treatment center, delivering innovative addiction services to those in need where they live. Aware Recovery Care treats addiction like a chronic illness, and their groundbreaking and evidence-based treatment approach provides comprehensive care from a multidisciplinary team of clinicians led by an Addiction Psychiatrist, a Family Systems Therapist, a Registered Nurse, and two Certified Recovery Advisors. They help their clients learn new skills and daily habits required to maintain abstinence while remaining amongst family and friends in their community, thereby eliminating the often difficult return home from traditional treatment options. Privacy and anonymity are respected, and dignity is preserved as they provide discreet and effective addiction care.
