Developed by SHE RECOVERS Founders, Dr. Dawn Nickel and Taryn Strong, other key members of the SRF team, and a range of experts in the realm of women’s recovery, this Redefining Women’s Recovery course aligns with and advances the mission of the SHE RECOVERS Foundation and its inclusive recovery ethos.

  • Learning how to better support non-binary folks and trans women in recovery spaces

The key learning objectives for this online, self-paced course are mapped to the ten SHE RECOVERS Intentions & Guiding Principles. With a focus on providing trauma-informed support, the curriculum is supplemented with access to recovery-focused education sessions, community stories, articles, and personal essays delivered by many voices in the women’s recovery movement.

Mental health professionals will learn how SHE RECOVERS redefines recovery in order to foster an ethos of inclusive, trauma-informed support that will positively impact work performed in the field. Skill Groups such as case management, treatment plans, and continuing care plans will all benefit from the unique perspectives of the authors and the resources provided.

Limits of Completion

Completion of this course does not provide the purchaser with the benefits of a SHE RECOVERS Certified Professional Designation. This includes being listed in the SHE RECOVERS Certified Professionals Directory, facilitating online gatherings and/or sharing circles, and identifying oneself as a SHE RECOVERS Certified Professional, Coach, Yoga Teacher, or Dance Facilitator.

Using the CEs

These credits are accepted toward national credentialing by the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP). If you intend to apply these credits to any other licensing, certifying, or governing body, you are responsible for confirming that these credits will be accepted by them.

What is the cost of this course?

The cost is $195 USD with a reduced price available on the registration page for Canadian residents to help offset the exchange rate.

How long does this course take to complete?

This course is designed to take approximately 10 hours.

Does this mean I can start a SHE RECOVERS Sharing Circle or facilitate a SHE RECOVERS Together Online Gathering?

No. To start a SHE RECOVERS Sharing Circle or facilitate a SHE RECOVERS Together Online Gathering we require that you hold one of our designations as a SHE RECOVERS Coach (SRCD), Professional (SRPD), Yoga Teacher (SRYT), or Peer Specialist (SRPS currently in development). These designations include additional training required to voluntarily facilitate and hold space.

How is the content of this course different from the SHE RECOVERS Coach or Professional Designations?

The content of this course is derived from the SRCD and SRPD curriculum but is shorter in duration. It also features a distinct evaluation process and other required tasks.

I’m already designated as a SHE RECOVERS Certified Professional and would like to earn the CEs, do I need to register?

Yes. We have special pricing available for those who have already earned an SRCD, SRPD, and/or SRYT designation. Please contact Certifications to receive more information.

If I decide that, after completing this course, I want to earn a designation and become a SHE RECOVERS Professional, how would I do that?

The SHE RECOVERS® Peer Support Specialist (SRPSS) Designation is a comprehensive, self-paced online program designed for trained and credentialed peer workers. This program equips those working in the recovery field with trauma-informed, inclusive tools and a heart-centered approach to peer support.

The SHE RECOVERS Coach Designation is designed for certified coaches looking to expand their knowledge and support women to find and follow individualized pathways and patchworks of recovery. This designation is for those who have already completed a coaching program through one of our training partners or have completed an equivalent 80+ hour coach training program.

This course has been approved by SHE RECOVERS Foundation as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider (#307560) for ten CEs upon completion of this course. SHE RECOVERS Foundation is responsible for all aspects of this programming.
