THE RETREAT
A spiritual and compassionate approach to healing.
The Retreat’s National Center for Women’s Recovery is designed by women for women.
Located in the Big Woods Preserve of Wayzata, MN, it provides a dignified and pastoral environment for physical, emotional and spiritual healing from substance use disorder, providing a strong foundation for life in recovery. The National Center for Women’s Recovery philosophy is simple and straightforward—it uses the spiritual principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and an integrated community approach to deliver industry-best outcomes.
The integrated partnership between SHE RECOVERS and The Retreat aims to amplify the impact of both organizations, and provide more women with the tools, resources, and support necessary to thrive in their recovery. SHE RECOVERS believes in all pathways – including Twelve Step recovery – and knows that women attending treatment will benefit greatly from the unique bidirectional support approach offered at The Retreat.
The Retreat generously made a $10,000 donation in support of our mission in 2023. Such support plays a vital role in furthering the foundation’s goals and providing necessary resources to empower and support recovering women. SHE RECOVERS is deeply grateful to The Retreat for their contribution and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.

“At The Retreat, we have long recognized the significance of a holistic approach to recovery. By collaborating with SHE RECOVERS, we can expand our reach and offer women a wider range of tools and resources to support their long-term sobriety.”
~ Eva Pickeral, Women’s Program Coordinator at The Retreat ~

The Retreat’s Unique Approach
The Retreat Minneapolis Women’s Recovery Center offers a full continuum of care featuring a non-clinical, holistic, and mutually-supportive approach to substance misuse. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities affected by alcohol and drugs by providing affordable and educational services rooted in the Twelve Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and complemented by holistic recovery modalities.
The Retreat creates an environment that promotes emotional and spiritual growth to improve mental health and help women establish a solid connection to the recovery community. Through collective group services, their treatment plans support women to share their experiences, strength, and hope with one another so they can learn to trust themselves, understand the true nature of their struggles, and take empowered steps towards a thriving life in recovery.
The Retreat’s integrated community based and mutual-help approach utilizes volunteers from the recovery community to deliver an accessible healing experience and curriculum that’s alive with the spirit of recovery.
