Movement = Medicine Celebration

With the SHE RECOVERS Community

executive function in recovery

Movement=Medicine

We know that trauma lives in our tissues and the body has its own story to tell. In order to heal, one of the most powerful things we can do is move. Movement is a unique and empowering experience. You can make it your own. And that’s why it’s such an important tool of recovery. Movement truly equals medicine and we want everyone to know it!

Join SHE RECOVERS Founders Dawn Nickel and Taryn Strong, along with SHE RECOVERS Dance Creator Payton Kennedy, as we wrap up our Movement = Medicine campaign which raises awareness and critical funds for women in or seeking recovery, while also displaying the importance of incorporating our bodies in movement.

We live in a world where one in five women are living with a mental health issue such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or a substance use disorder. Additionally, just last year 20.4 million people in the US were diagnosed with a substance use disorder, and only 10% of those people received support.  The greatest barriers to recovery for women include stigma and lack of accessible recovery support.

We want to smash stigma and create change for recovering women and non-binary individuals everywhere by making recovery more accessible—and we need your help.

So far we have raised just over $15,000 of our goal of $50,000 with just a few days left to go. There is still time to make an impact! You can donate, raise funds, spread awareness and/or join us for 2.5 hours of movement on October 8. Those who raise over $1000 have a chance to win a complimentary ticket to the SHE RECOVERS Conference in 2023!
