Rooted in the SHE RECOVERS® philosophy, the SHE RECOVERS Peer Support Specialist (SRPSS) Designation is a comprehensive, 12.5-hour self-paced online program designed for peer workers who are already trained and working in the recovery field.

SPRSS Designates are equipped with the tools to support women in recovery using a trauma-informed, inclusive, and heart-centered approach. They receive exclusive benefits from SHE RECOVERS, including a professional directory listing, branded badge and logo use, access to ongoing professional support calls, and additional training to facilitate SHE RECOVERS gatherings both online and in-person.

We’re launching this new designation to meet the needs of communities around the world and the recovery organizations who serve them. Peer Support Training Requirements

To qualify for this designation, your training must meet the following criteria:

In the US:

Almost all states and territories now have a state-level certification training in place that meets the National Model Standards for Peer Support Certification set by SAMHSA. You can find out what your state requirements are in the directory provided by the Center for Addiction Recovery Support. Your certification must be in good standing with your state requirements when you apply to take the SRPSS. If you live in Hawaii or South Dakota, please get in touch via email with Certifications to review and qualify your training.

In Canada and other countries:

If you hold a current national certification with Peer Support Canada, a CCPSS certification with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF), or you have completed US CCAR’s Recovery Coach Academy (30 CEs), you can automatically register for this designation.

More About The Course

The learning objectives for the curriculum are directly aligned with the SHE RECOVERS Intentions & Guiding Principles, ensuring each module reflects our core values and equips all professionals to support women in recovery with clarity, compassion, and integrity. The course content is rich with practical resources that can support both clients and your own recovery practices.

As you move through the 10-unit course, you will be asked to respond to two to three reflective questions per unit in an accompanying workbook. Upon completion, you will submit your workbook for feedback and, upon approval, receive a certificate and the official SHE RECOVERS Peer Support Specialist badge.

REDEFINING WOMEN’S RECOVERY COURSE

Peer support workers who need continuing education credits but do not require the exclusive benefits of the SRPSS Designation can take this 10-hour, self-paced course that focuses on providing a deeper understanding of case management, planning, and continuing care practices tailored to women’s unique recovery journeys.

This course is perfect for peer support workers who need to renew their credentials with their boards, government, or state bodies that provide accreditation oversight. As a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, SHE RECOVERS Foundation (#307560) is able to offer 10 CEs for this course.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the technical requirements?

You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a computer or device capable of streaming video content, and basic computer skills. Participants will also be asked to create an account on our online learning platform (Teachable).

Are Continuing Education (CE) credits available for this designation?

No, not for the SRPSS. However, SHE RECOVERS Foundation is a NAADAC Approved Education Provider (#307560) and offers 10 CE credits for our Redefining Women’s Recovery course at a deep discount for those who’ve already completed an SRF designation and require CEs. Please get in touch via email with Certifications for the discount code.

What if I’ve already done the Redefining Women’s Recovery course for the CEs and I’m interested in earning the SRPSS Designation?

If you have completed the RWR course and been awarded your CEs, please get in touch via email with Certifications for more information and a discount code for the SRPSS Designation.

Will I be able to refer to myself as a SHE RECOVERS Coach, Professional, or Yoga Teacher?

No. You’ll be able to identify yourself (and be listed in the directory) under the category reserved for SHE RECOVERS Peer Support Specialist. The SHE RECOVERS Coach, Professional, and Yoga Teacher programs are all separate designations.

Are scholarships available?

While we don’t currently offer scholarships for this program, we’ve recently adjusted our pricing to improve accessibility. We remain committed to inclusivity and reducing financial barriers wherever possible.
